At the annual IMEX Tradeshow in Frankfurt, the winner of the 2017 Digital Infrastructure Award saw Daejeon Convention Centre from South Korea awarded joint winner, with KLCC, Malaysia. Bob Heile, head of the award judging panel explained: “based on the submissions, both centers have top notch digital infrastructures and we were unable to really put one ahead of the other, so we will have the honor of handing out 2 awards”.

South Korea is known for its lead in all things digital and this award further demonstrates Korea’s high tech infrastructure. Daejeon is a member of the Global Science & Convention Alliance and uniquely situated in the R&D cluster just an hour from Seoul, and home to leading scientific institute the KAIST.

Award judge Bob Heile is involved in more than eleven different conferences on WIFI and digital communications annually, where he tests at first hand the quality of digital communications in venues across the globe. He explains: “Events turn into disasters when venues do not appreciate the importance of crucial background services like WIFI connections. The Award offers an opportunity to showcase venues that have worked really hard to put in place excellent digital infrastructure which permits event planners to deliver even better meetings”.

The award, devised by INCON, is now in its fourth year, and celebrates best in class Digital Infrastructure in meetings venues around the world. By giving visibility to the venues that are delivering excellent services INCON hopes to inspire improvements to digital infrastructure across all venues which should be of tremendous value to delegates, clients, meeting planners and to the broader meetings industry.

INCON is a partnership of the world’s leading conference, event and association management companies, and includes Korea’s core PCO, MECI, and recently announced Goyang Convention Bureau (Goyang CVB), and home to KINTEX, as a preferred supplier.
