Korea at The Meetings Show 2017

Korea Tourism Organisation’s presence at The Meetings Show 2017, London 13-15 June 2017, will update you on all the latest news and offerings from this rising star, and explain the support of the Korea MICE Bureau.

South Korea continues to make headway into cementing its place as one of the world’s most popular convention destinations. UIA statistics report has SoKo 2nd place to only the USA, for international Association events. Recent ICCA rankings announced in May 2017 also showed Seoul had risen into the top 10 global top cities for international meetings.

Korea will also be host the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2018, and is bolstering its infrastructure with a high speed spur on the KTX (bullet train) taking visitors to the games area within 70 minutes from Seoul, and from Incheon International Airport in under two hours.

It is not just major events where South Korea wins, incentive programmes are varied and unusual, with many boutique and deluxe properties offering the perfect base from which to offer your achievers: a chance to feast like a King in a traditional Hanok; have a makeover from artists to the celebrities; cycle along the Han river in Seoul; take tea with a Monk; learn to smash your way through a wooden panel from the masters of Taekwondo; eat BBQ at the Baseball; or dine at one of the 35 newly awarded Michelin starred restaurants (there is even a one Michelin starred Temple food restaurant that is just $30 per head).

South Korea’s tallest building, the new 555 meter-tall Lotte World Tower, recently opened in Seoul. Besides housing an enormous mall, aquarium, a cinema with one of the world's largest movie screens, concert hall, and observation deck, the new tower is also home to the luxurious Signiel Hotel by Lotte Hotel. Offering 235 bedrooms, meeting facilities and more, this is literally the height of luxury, personified.

Lotte is one of our co-host partners, on hand to show off their 5* Luxury, boutique, and 4* city hotels.

In Korea’s second city, Busan will see the opening of a 400-room AVANI Busan in 2019. Located amongst the other meeting hotels and convention facilities of BEXCO the upscale hotel will offer event space and meeting rooms, a rooftop specialty bar, and swimming pool.

Co-host partner Busan CVB will be at the show to update you on this, and their support packages. (Lotte is also expanding here with a deluxe hotel, within Busan Lotte Town Tower, scheduled to open around the same time as AVANI in 2019, and located within the same cluster.)

New for this year, Incheon’s Songdo, a sustainable city of the future, will also be attending, a stunning new city, just 20 minutes from the International Airport, home to the first LEED certified Convention Centre and the delightful Hanok inspired Gyeongwonjae Ambassador Incheon from Accor and not far from the largest China Town outside China.

For those seeking incentive programmes, PCO services and more both H&T DMC and Holiday Planners are also on the stand to offer a range of services to assist event professionals with any aspect of their groups’ requirements.
