Re-opening of Greece to International Tourism

Greece continues to make strides in re-opening, with a target date of 15th June for international flights to begin to arrive in Athens...

Restaurants, Cafes and Bars

Restaurants, cafes and bars have opened up their outdoor space since Monday, 25th May, complying with new measures and health regulations, with the indoor spaces expected to open on June 15th.

Hotels

Year-round hotels are set to open on June 1st, with most of them actually starting operation sometime between June 10th to 15th, as they want to properly implement protocols, train personnel and adjust to the new reality.

Seasonal hotels are set to open on June 15th, with most of them actually opening up on July 1st, for the same reason as already noted.

Using the government's template for the tourism industry, OM DMC have produced a base guideline for all accommodation providers to adhere to in order to continue their working relationship.  Read the document here.

Flight Access

Flights from abroad will begin in two stages:

- On June 15th flights to “Eleftherios Venizelos” Athens International Airport (ATH) will start, from countries with good epidemiological features.

- As of July 1st flights to all Greek airports and from all countries will begin, with the exception of those presenting negative epidemiological figures.

To enter Greece, there will be no requirement for any type of test or the imposition of any quarantine, while only sample tests for epidemiological monitoring will be applied.

The plan of the government for a gradual lifting of the measures will rely on monitoring developments of the gradual return to normality on a 24-hour basis.
