Seoul's restaurants receive stars

24 top Seoul restaurants awarded in Seoul’s inaugural Michelin Guide

This first edition for the South Korean capital sees 24 restaurants awarded with stars, including two 3-Michelin-starred establishments, three 2-starred restaurants and 19 one-starred restaurants.

3 Stars go to La Yeon’s traditional take on Korean cuisine at the stylish 5* Shilla, along with the three storied Gaon, operated by ceramic maker Kwangjuyo, in Gangnam.

This is the first time Korean gastronomy has been recognised in pride of place. Of the 2-starred restaurants, two of them serve Korean cuisine, Kwon Sook Soo and Gotgan, while the other serves French contemporary cuisine at visiting dignitaries favourite, the 5* Lotte Downtown’s Pierre Gagnaire.

Amongst the other 145 eateries lauded by the guide is Balwoo Gongyang – a vegetarian dining spot that focuses on Korean Buddhist temple cuisine, awarded one star.

Hot on the heals of Lonley Planet's Top 10 Cities for 2017 gives yet more reasons why event professionals are seeking Seoul and SoKo for meetings and incentives.
