Design & Artists Tour – Explore with a personal Shopper

Sidi Ghanem Quarter, located 5 kilometers from the Marrakech medina, Sidi Ghanem is the industrial zone where artists and designers have their workshops and showrooms. This urban enclave is a reminder of New York’s SOHO district in the 1970’s where large loft spaces and concrete buildings are abound. Known as a mecca for architects and interior design enthusiasts this up and coming neighbourhood serves as the perfect shopping excursion from Marrakech.
The Sid Ghanem district is chock full of local and made-for-export goods along with charming French eateries. Tangier-based fashion designer, Salima Abdel Wahab, Lighting Designer Henry Cath, and Laurence Landon are a few notable designers to seek out. Be sure to note that most shops are closed on Saturday afternoons and Sundays.

HOW: several groups of 10 / 12 participants per ½ day (except Saturdays PM &Sundays) with 1 guide and 1 minivan.

Street Food Tour

Marrakech is all about street food and is listed among the world’s best cities for street food due to the delicious delicacies it offers for suitable prices to locals and tourists.
The tour will include the following spots in order:
Women making Msemmen, the Moroccan crêpes with Honey or with onions and sweet pepper stew.
Smen shops (Moroccan Rancid Butter/butter) and Khlii shops (Moroccan Jerky)
Snails: Served in a peppery broth called ‘babbouche’, and must be cooked slowly over a low heat using a balanced mixture of over 15 different spices… Bon Appétit
Traditional Bakery: see bakers kneading the dough to make bread and traditional baking oven, buy bread for your next meal…
Olives: they come in a rainbow of colours and flavors, from the creamy greens to the salty, cured black signature olives of Morocco.
Tanjia of Beef*: Not to be confused with tajine, tanjia is a unique, meat-heavy dish made only in this city. Where a tajine is made in a two-piece cone shaped conical pot, a tanjia is cooked in a clay urn, with the simple ingredients of preserved lemons, garlic, cumin, saffron, a touch of olive oil and just enough water to keep it from sticking to the pot
Mechoui*: roasted lamb and mutton that's sold by weight and requires no more seasoning than a little bit of salt and cumin.
*Tanjia and Mechoui will be served in the same locals restaurant with a mint tea for digestion.
Moroccan Pastries: perfect with a cup of mint tea and shared amongst friends new and old, Moroccan pastries are ideal for those with a sweet tooth.
