Rabat Case Study With Activ'Travel

Activ'Travel recently assisted the delivery of a conference with an accompanying destination experience for 220 participants with a very high-quality programme. Combining strong conference content with beautiful venues, cultural moments, authentic experiences and memorable evening events resulted in excellent delegate feedback, and it confirmed that Rabat can offer much more than expected.

Day 1

Delegates stayed close to the Medina at the Fairmont La Marina Rabat-Salé and the historic La Tour Hassan Palace. The first day’s meetings took place in the elegant ballroom of the Fairmont, which provided a spacious, well-equipped setting for the meeting.

Day 2

An organised city experience with several stops in the old city/medina, followed by lunch in the gardens of the Oudayas Museum. That afternoon they held meetings in the auditorium of the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. This stunning venue is managed by the "Fondation Nationale des Musees", with whom Activ'Travel have an agreement with to collaborate and benefit from preferred access to their facilities and curators.

Day 3

Today consisted of full day excursions from Rabat, including Tangier by Al Boraq high-speed train, Fez, Casablanca and also vineyard experiences around Rabat. The gala dinner was organised at the Chellah Historical site, with a cocktail at Ciconaia followed by dinner in a crystal tent overlooking the Roman and Marinid ruins. This worked very well and gave the participants a strong and memorable final evening.

Conclusion

Rabat was not presented through monuments or classic sightseeing. Activ'Travel translated these into credible meeting, reception, and dinner venues and experiences.

Further to the two mentioned hotels, additional new properties include: The Four Seasons Rabat Kasr Al Bahr, Conrad Rabat Arzana, The View Bouznika and Rabat Marriott.

Additional new venues include the Royal Theatre of Rabat / Grand Théâtre de Rabat, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. Beyond the architectural value, it gives Rabat a new cultural and event landmark, with a main auditorium, an outdoor amphitheatre and additional spaces ideal for high-profile cultural moments, openings, performances or special event concepts, subject of course to access conditions and permissions.

Waldorf Astoria Rabat Salé, recently opened in the new and iconic Mohammed VI Tower. This is Morocco’s first Waldorf Astoria and is located in the upper floors of the tower, with only 55 rooms and suites. It is not a large convention hotel, but it is highly symbolic and interesting for very selective VIP hospitality, board-level programmes, and private dinners. The tower itself is also a strong visual statement for the new Rabat-Salé development, and demonstrates how the city is changing. Read more about the Waldorf Astoria Rabat Salé.
